Not for us, but for my sister Colleen and her husband Jason! They found out today they are having a girl! We are so excited and look forward to meeting her when she arrives mid-July(ish). And Makayla is excited that we get to empty out her closet and pass on all her old clothes!

Silly kids
Last week the mall hosted a special reading event that we checked out. We then enjoyed some mall pizza and a ride on the merry-go-round.
Conner was much happier with this one (the last one he was on was really fast!)
On our way home we stopped at McDs for a special vanilla shake treat. Makayla loved it, Conner said he didn't like it because it was too cold...
Conner loves to wear his Shockey hat but it's a battle to get him to wear a hat that will keep him warm. We both won this morning :)
This silly goose came down from her rest dressed like this. How does that hat still fit her head???
A special snack of apples drizzled with caramel and strawberries drizzled with chocolate. Yum!
Crafting together - so cute! Conner has really started to enjoy sitting (for about 5 minutes) and working on a project. He made two pictures to bring to his teachers :)
Movie night! As a reward for filling up their marble jar again, we had a movie night. We rented "The Lorax", popped some popcorn, and enjoyed the show. Conner stayed still and watched for about 15 minutes, much longer than I thought he would!
Beautiful :)

Fun in DC
One of Makayla's birthday presents was tickets to see Disney on Ice. We were able to get tickets to the same show that Sarah and her family were going to and Makayla was very excited to be there with Hannah and Sadie. The show was this past Saturday and after a crazy drive into DC and an even crazier time finding parking, everyone made it to their seats and enjoyed the show.
Enjoying the show - our seats were great!
Enjoying the Sierra Mist (his first soda - Makayla was almost 5 before she had her first taste...)
One benefit of all of Jason's traveling is the hotel points he racks up so we decided to use some and stay in a hotel in DC after the show. Checking out the view from the 10th floor.
Relaxing a bit with Mickey
Amazing how quickly they can turn into zombies when the TV comes on...
For a special treat, we ordered dessert from room service. Here they are enjoying their ice cream picnic.

Of course we had to check out the pool. They had a great time and are both doing so well! They are going to be hard to keep up with in the pool this summer!

Going to sleep went about as smooth as you would expect - everyone is quiet, Makayla says something, Conner responds, we tell them to be quiet while trying not to laugh, repeat. At one point everyone was quiet and close to being asleep, and Conner breaks out singing "Jingle Bells" It reminded me of trips with my parents and siblings and the exact same things happening!
We spent some more time in the pool the next morning before heading home. It was a great trip and the kids did pretty well - we look forward to more traveling adventures together!

A Happy Valentine's Day
We started the day with heart shaped pink pancakes.
After a fun party day at preschool, I had a special lunch date with two of my valentines.
When Jason came home, we exchanged a few gifts, had a yummy dinner of burgers on the grill, then shared a fondue dessert.
Having fun!
One piece in his mouth and he already has his eyes on his next piece...
Makayla had to put a hat on to keep from getting the chocolate in her hair!

You've heard of night swimming? Well this is night snowing! Jason and Makayla had a great time playing in our little bit if snow tonight. Check out their snowmen - one on the playset and one taking a ride on the glider!

All caught up
I finally added pictures from Makayla's birthday and party but I had them post on the day they should have. So scroll down a bit if you want to see them!
Working on Valentines
Hard at work writing all her friend's names and signing her name. Her writing is getting pretty good!
Ice cream for lunch
We've started a marble jar to encourage good behavior and their first reward was a trip to Sweet Frogs!

Lunch
Enjoying a nice lunch of tuna and crackers with Makayla. Probably not a very common lunch for a 5 year old but she loves it!

Party time!
Our kitchen was transformed for 10 party guests and ready for cake decorating!
Very serious...
I was happy to see Conner took his job seriously too!
It looks like she's done this before!
After a few samples, he did put a few pieces of the candy on the cake!Everyone was hard at work!
The finished cakes - beautiful!
Game two - using a party blower, blow the cupcake paper across the table. This was pretty funny!
The cake - I was able to order the main design online, it came as a sugar sheet that dissolves into the icing. Then I added the trim and flowers.
Our 5 year old.
All the girls and Conner right in the middle
Present time
Dance party!
Thank goodness for wonderful friends who stay and help! A huge thank you to Sarah (in the picture), her husband Chad, my friend Anna, and of course Jason. All the girls seemed to have fun, no one was crying for feeling left out, and no one got hurt! I think that's a successful party!
