Sunday

Today was mostly consumed playing with the new toys.
We said good-bye to most of out visitors and hello to Kelly and Julia who came to visit for the afternoon - with more presents! I have a feeling we will be reading this book a lot!
Julia brought a tea set for Makayla and they played so nicely together with all of Makayla's new things.

This afternoon we bundled up to play in the snow. This was Warren's first real chance to play in the snow and he seemed to love it!

They both enjoyed a ride in the sled.
After dinner Makayla devoured a cup cake. It was bath time after this!

The birthday party

Back at the house, we stuffed ourselves with food, then more food, then still more food. Makayla was very excited about her cake! She was even more excited about all of her presents! She got a lot of really great things that she has been playing with non-stop!
A short video that captures her excitement.
Showing off her new boots - and her belly!

The crowd. We were so happy to have so many people come to make Makayla's birthday so special. Makayla got a lot of dress up clothes. I won't be surprised if she goes to daycare in a similar outfit tomorrow!
When it was time to sing, Makayla was the one who took a huge breath then got everyone started!

There's no such thing as small bites when it comes to birthday cake!

Fun at the waterpark

Despite the snow and "not ideal" driving conditions, we decided to stick with the plan and had to Massanutten Waterpark. There was something for everyone and we all had a blast.
Makayla really enjoyed relaxing in the tube going around the lazy river.
Jason made it more exciting by spinning her around which she loved.
We took a break from the water for lunch. Makayla thought it was hilarious that she got to wear Jason's shirt.
The surfing grandmas! Both grandmas had a great time going down all the slides and waiting in line with all the young kids to try out boogi boarding - they were both great! Here's Grandma Meg.
And Grandma Mary - one handed with a wave!
Warren had a great time and wore himself out!
Makayla also enjoying hanging out in the kiddie area.

Showing off her swimming skills - and her tongue!
Speaking of tongues, she enjoying sliding down the frog's!
How cute!
The warm water pool was a popular spot.
So much fun - we'll be back!
After our fun day in the water, this is what we saw when we got back out to the parking lot. The drive home was slow and we are so glad everyone made it home safely.

Only 20 weeks, really?

That's the reaction I've been getting when I tell people how far along I am. I've heard you get bigger faster with #2, but will it slow down??? We may need a wide lens soon!
After a long hard day at school, Makayla likes to zone out in front of the t.v....
Her favorite show is Sesame Street (which is only on in the morning, the DVR is a wonderful thing!). She loves to yell out the names of all the characters she knows - and she knows most of them!

Happy kid

Makayla is getting excited as we talk to her more about her birthday and the plans for the weekend. I hope the weather cooperates!

So creative

Give Makayla an empty oatmeal container and some crayons and this is what she comes up with!

Fresh air

With the weather warming up all the way to the low 40's, Makayla and I took a walk to the playground. We had a great time running around and going down the slides!

The hokey pokey

I took this video yesterday but for some reason the website wasn't cooperating and I couldn't get it to post. Hopefully it works today! Make sure your sound is on!

I love this kid!

We had to stop at the grocery store on our way home today and Makayla actually sat in the seat of the grocery cart (a miracle! I wonder if it had anything to do with the snacks I kept feeding her...) Anyway, every once in a while she would turn sideways and lay back. Each time I would ask her what she was doing and she would say, "I relaxin" or "I chillin." Then she would sit up at say, "All done relaxin." It was so cute!
When we got home, straight to the play kitchen of course.

Fun, fun day!

After this morning's excitement, we ran a few errands and them home for lunch. After nap, Makayla and I had lots of fun. First snack, of course. Then because it was sunny and about 50 degrees, we headed outside. We played with sidewalk chalk, hula hoop, bubbles, bikes and then took Kona for a walk. As it started to get cooler we came in and headed to the basement to play in the sand and on the slide. After all that fun, we made dinner and she had a blast pounding the chicken. You would think she would be tired from all of that but now it's 8:40 and she's up in her crib singing away! I'm ready for sleep though!

Coming this June....

It's a boy!!!
We had a great appointment this morning and were happy to hear that the baby looks healthy! Everything checked out normal and they estimate he weighs about 13 ounces right now. That may not sound like much but the doctor said it's about 9 days ahead of schedule! She said they usually don't make predictions this early, but she thinks we will have a pretty big baby! Makayla was able to be with us at the appointment and did very well. She was very curious about everything, especially the "gooey" on my tummy. She has been talking about seeing the baby ever since we left the doctor's office. She is going to be a great big sister! Anyone want to come help paint a room blue this weekend???

Hanging out with Erin

Yesterday we took a trip down to Charlottesville to visit Erin and William. Makayla was very excited since it was a long drive (about 2 hours) she got to watch videos in the car! We all "enjoyed" watching/listening to Elmo Christmas about 8 more times!
We had a great visit and since the weather was pretty nice (in the 50's!) we checked out the downtown area and the Discovery Kids Museum. Makayla loved all the hands on things at the museum. Here she is playing with a giant Light Bright.
Serious concentration....
It was lots of fun to watch her have such a good time!

After the museum we walked to the Charlottesville Running Store where Jason was able to sign up for the 1/2 marathon on April 17th (for more info, check out http://www.charlottesvillemarathon.com/ ). I'll be a spectator this year but they have a 26.2 yard race for kids that Makayla may do! We're starting her early!!!

Future teacher?

This afternoon Makayla set up her bear and Elmo and then was trying to get them to color. She also kept saying, "Listen to me. You need to listen to me." Phrases she has been hearing me say to her a lot!

I tried to get a nice picture of her standing next to her friends, but she kept closing her eyes!
While I was making dinner, she wanted a snack so I gave her a few pita chips. She politely asked for hummus, but since the hummus we had has been in the fridge for months, I told her we didn't have any. This did not make her happy. She said, "I NEED HUMMUS!!!" Seriously. How many toddlers say that? She is a goof ball!

Play time!

I was able to leave school right away today and get Makayla a little earlier than usual. I was happy to have lots of play time with her before it was time to start dinner!
First she took her bear with her through the tunnel. She was talking to him the whole time, "come on bear, let's go bear." It was so cute!
Then bear watched her color.
I kept trying to get a nice picture of her smiling, but this was as good as I could get! It seems at times she becomes a little camera shy!

Home with daddy

Makayla wasn't feeling well over the weekend and after being up for several hours during the night, we decided she needed to stay home and Jason was able to stay home with her. After a trip to the doctor in the morning and a breathing treatment to help her out, she was in much better shape. They had a very busy afternoon of painting, play dough, sand box and a few videos.

Check out dad of the year. Not only did he put on an apron to paint with Makayla, he set up the camera timer to take a picture!
Makayla is sleeping soundly and we are hoping that she will have a good night's sleep and be back to herself tomorrow - we are also hoping for a good night's sleep so we can function a little better tomorrow too!

A fun, not-so-fun weekend

Some of the things we did this weekend were not so fun: putting away the Christmas decorations (which I HATE doing!), cleaning the house, and the usual weekend errands. But Makayla made our not-so-fun weekend, fun! She loves to play with all of her toys and always has such a nice big smile!
Cooking us breakfast.
Playing with play dough.
And helping with the laundry!

2 hour delay

I was really hoping for a snow day yesterday but instead we got a 2 hour delay. The best part was that I got to see Makayla and Jason in the morning (usually I am on the road before they wake up). It was fun to enjoy breakfast together and get a few laughs with Makayla before heading to work!

The best way to fly

On daddy's feet!
