When Jason and I first got married, we were so excited to start getting nice stuff. We got some "real grown up furniture" and then a house. We took lots of time finding the perfect place for all of our new nice things. Then we got a dog. Then we had a kid. Now our nice couch has holes chewed on the bottom, our fancy wine glasses have been replaced by bottles, and we have stuffed fish hanging from our dining room chandelier. And we couldn't be happier!Sunday, March 30, 2008

8 Weeks Old
I am still amazed when people see Makayla and say things like, "Oh, what a tiny little baby" or "she must be brand new". What? She is 8 weeks old! She isn't tiny or brand new! I guess it is all relative!Makayla is growing a lot and doing new things almost every day. She holds her head up really well and can even sit on her own for a few seconds. She smiles a lot and makes some laughing sounds. She also "talks" quite a bit. She loves bathtime with daddy. And she seems to be able to recognize Jason and I. She is growing up so fast!

Another good-bye
Today Makayla and I dropped Erin and Colleen off at the airport :( Even though Makayla was sleeping (she is great in the car!) I know she was as sad as I was to see them go. We really enjoyed having them here and I really appreciated all of their help. I just talked to Erin and they made it home safely - and their luggage was there too!

Happy Easter!
Makayla started the day in her bouncer with her new friend - thanks Grandma and Grandpa Reynolds!
She was all dressed up in her Baby's First Easter outfit - check out the bunny feet!
We really enjoyed having Aunt Erin and Aunt Colleen spend some time with us.
Our fabulous Easter dinner. Yes - we are eating outside!!! The weather was beautiful today - almost 80 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. We even brought out the plastic pool for Kona to take a swim - he loved it!
After dinner we took a trip to Coldstone for some delicious ice cream. I did catch Colleen trying to give Makayla a taste...

So cool!
Our trip to the big trees
Today we took a trip to Sequoia National Park, about 3 hours southeast of where we live. Makayla was pretty good in the car and Erin and Colleen behaved themselves too...
The road that seemed to never end...
Makayla was all ready for some sight seeing!
This is in front of the Sentinel tree, one of the largest sequoias.
This is in front of the General Sherman tree - the largest living thing in the world! Jason did a great job navigating the stroller on the icy path! Makayla slept through it all...
Another picture of the General Sherman. It was huge - and over 2,000 years old!

Busy day!
Makayla started the day helping Colleen and I re-organize her room. She was very helpful! As we did this, Erin was on a 10 mile run. I'm glad she ran some for me!
During the cleaning, I came across some wrist rattles. Makayla wasn't sure what to do with them, but they looked cute!
We took a trip to my school to show off Makayla during their spring party.
When we came home, it was time to dye Easter Eggs! Makayla watched the two professionals hard at work!
There was definitely a theme with the decorating...Wednesday, March 19, 2008
The Aunts arrive!
Erin and Colleen arrived today! Unfortunately, their luggage did not. Ahh, that really makes the high ticket prices even more frustrating when you can't even get what you paid for! Supposedly, the bags will be delivered sometime during the night... Anyway, other than that, things are going well and I am sure there will be many more pictures of their visit posted soon!Monday, March 17, 2008

6 weeks old already!

It's hard to believe Makayla is 6 weeks old already, yet it seems like she has been here forever! This was a challenging week and I really understood what it means to be TIRED. Too little sleep and it seems like nothing is going right. But after a few hours of sleep, I found myself wondering what was such a big deal the day before! Thankfully, the support of my friends and family, my wonderful husband, and Makayla's smile helped me get through the tough time and we are all doing well now.
We got a surprise when we went to put Makayla to sleep last night and saw that someone was already in her crib!Thursday, March 13, 2008

Ski trip!
With ski season nearing an end and Jason having skied every year since he was three, we decided we better get up to the snow! So yesterday we took a trip up to Dodge Ridge for a ski day. Jason and I were able to get a "parent exchange" lift ticket so we took turns skiing and watching Makayla - yes I did ski! But I wasn't the only crazy one less than 6 weeks post-partum out there. We met up with Sarah and her family (she is the teacher that had a baby the same week we did). Most people were impressed that we were out of the house already, they were shocked that we were actually skiing! I only did a few runs and after getting my fix (and not falling or hurting myself) Jason had plenty of time to do the big scary runs. The weather was beautiful - about 70 degrees and not a cloud in the sky!
Makayla spent the day cozy in the lodge. I have a feeling it won't be long before you see skis on this one! (Then maybe I will be the one spending the day being cozy in the lodge...)
Check out that hat - thanks Aunt Dot!

Lunch with daddy
Makayla and I met daddy for lunch today. Then we went to get a jogging stroller - I guess I have to start jogging now!
Here Makayla is showing me that her mouth is as big as her Aunt Erin's!
And here Makayla is thinking, "Mom, if you take one more picture of me today, I am going to give you a knuckle sandwich!"Wednesday, March 5, 2008
Makayla's day
Makayla started the day hanging out in mommy and daddy's bed.
Then she spent some tummy time on the play mat. It turned into drooling on the stuffed whale...
When daddy came home, it was bath time!
A bathing beauty in her fabulous robe - she was wearing matching slippers but they didn't make it into the picture!Tuesday, March 4, 2008
