Our trip to the snow

After spending all day yesterday cleaning the house and packing up the holiday decorations, we decided to take a little day trip to the snow today. Yes I know it sounds funny to say "go to the snow" but when the snow doesn't come here, that's what you do! We packed up the car with Starbucks, snacks, and the puppy and headed east to the mountains. It was about a 2 hour drive and thankfully Kona did great in the car. It turned out to be ideal weather - sunny and about 40 degrees. Kona loved the snow and couldn't seem to sniff everything fast enough! Jason had a good time playing with Kona and I was just glad I didn't fall!

Some recent pictures

Christmas morning. Yes, we did make an early morning trip to Starbucks before we opened presents....

Amy's belly at 36 weeks. I hope it doesn't get much bigger!

The baby's room - I look forward to spending many hours "relaxing" in the chair!

36 weeks - only 4 weeks to go!

Today was our 36 week check up and everything continues to look good. The doctor estimated that the baby is around 5 1/2 pounds now and may be around 8 pounds when she is born, which he also said may be 1-2 weeks late. Of course, that may change too. It's all up to the little one to decide when she is ready!
Jason and I have been spending the last few days adding the final touches to the baby's room. It looks so cute! We have had fun testing out all of her ocean-themed toys and will probably need more batteries before she even arrives! Our favorite is the fish mobile that plays some happy music and also does a light show of stars and fish on the ceiling - the cat loves it!
We are also pretty sure we have setteled on a name - Makayla Marie Reynolds. I have been advised that we should have a boy's name in mind too, just in case...

Getting started

Hello everybody and welcome to my first attempt at setting up a blog page! We hope to keep you updated with our last few weeks of preparation before our baby arrives and then of course to show her off once she is here!
Thank you to the Keane family for inspiring me to get this started. They have a great site set up at http://keanefamilyblog.blogspot.com/. I am hoping to keep this site as updated as Kelly does!
